Mrs. Brooks
Team Leader, Science
Hello, I am Mrs. Brooks. I am originally from Muncie, Indiana and attended Wapahani High School. I have a bachelor's degree in Wildlife Biology and Ecology with a minor in Natural Resources from Ball State University, and a Master's Degree in Secondary Science Education with an emphasis on life science and chemistry. I joined the CMS staff in 2015. Here, I am the head co-ed Track and Field coach, and a co-sponsor for the Honor Society. In my spare time, you can usually find me on the train. I am a board member and volunteer with Whitewater Valley Railroad where I am a brakeman, conductor, and locomotive engineer.

Mr. Hafertepen
Social Studies
Mr. Hafertepen teaches US History Pre-History to Reconstruction 1877. He is a graduate of Wright State University and Western Governors University. With his wife, a 12 year veteran of the US Army, he has traveled the world and eaten many different types of pizza. His favorite is Little Caesar’s $5 pizza pizza. Mr. H is also very cheap. In his spare time he enjoys searching for coins dropped by strangers to add to his piggy bank, he actually has a piggy bank under his bed. In the future, Mr. H plans on being a grumpy old man scanning the beach with a second hand metal detector and yelling at the kids to get off his lawn. His manicured weeds will be the envy of the neighborhood.
His greatest quality is his humility, which is a true accomplishment given how outstanding he is in just about everything else. You should all feel privileged for being in his class, you’re welcome.
Mrs. Stanton
Language Arts
My name is Mrs. Amy Stanton. I’m glad to be a new member of the CMS Diamonds Team of awesome teachers here in Connersville. I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a Masters in Teaching ESL. My fifteen years of teaching experience has been primarily with ESL students, including nine years in South Korea as a Visiting Professor at Pusan National University. I have been teaching middle and high school (English) here in Indiana for the past two years. I enjoy teaching the process and love of reading, listening, writing, and speaking. I look forward to getting to know you and your students throughout the school year.

I am the Diamonds team Math teacher.
I graduated from Miami University with a bachelors degree in middle childhood education with a concentration in math and language arts. Love and Honor!

Mrs. Porter
Special Education
I have worked for the last 8 years for Fayette County School System. I am the 8th grade
Diamonds Mild Interventions Instructor and working toward my master’s degree, to be finished
May 2020. I have been married to my best friend for the last 13 years. We have been together
for the last 17 years. We have two wonderful children in fifth grade and third grade and a two
year old American Bulldog. I love reading, dancing, and swimming. I am looking forward to a
great year!
